Women, Adolescent and Child health

People to People Health Foundation’s (PPHF) strategic priority is to achieve the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescents’ Health (2016-2030). Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (RMNCH) covers the health concerns and interventions across the life course involving women before and during pregnancy; newborns, that is, the first 28 days of life; and children to their fifth birthday. In addition to that investments in adolescent health and wellbeing are key to our progress towards the SDGs.

"We provide community-based solutions for and access to essential health care for adolescent girls, mothers, and children."

Nearly 10 Years of Impact: PPHF dedicatedly provides long-lasting solutions to health problems and improves the quality of life for the most vulnerable people, especially women and children. PPHF has been working with the Ministry of Health and private sectors in India for the last 10 years to address the health program and policy implementation gaps. PPHF has very intensive and longtime experience in building the capacity of the health Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health systems and mobilizing the community for the update of better health services.

We provide technical support on quality public health delivery, capacity strengthening, and health technology. Besides that, we generate new knowledge through implementation research and demonstration for better programming and scaling up. We work closely with communities and key actors on sustainable solutions for public health challenges. Drawing on decades of experience and recognizing the unique needs of each region, PPHF works in partnership with key stakeholders to design and deliver targeted responses.

All our programs integrate innovatively, evidence-based interventions in three key areas

Building the Skills of Health Care Workers

We support local efforts to reduce preventable causes of maternal, infant and child deaths by building the skills of healthcare workers in evidence-based antenatal, postnatal, neonatal, and essential nutrition and WASH interventions. Our capacity-building programs reach a diverse range of health professionals at the community and facility levels to ensure immediate attention and quality care for women, newborns, and children in need of health services. We mobilize qualified staff, local experts, and volunteers to deliver training utilizing a train-the-trainer approach to support long-lasting, positive health and nutrition outcomes. We create a digital learning platform for healthcare providers and the community.

Improving Access to Quality Services:

We advance sustainable quality improvements for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health through strong partnerships with Ministries of Health, other allied Ministries, training institutions, professional groups, and local champions. With local partners, we increase access to care through strengthening linkages among communities, health facilities, and tertiary care hospitals and decreasing delays to care such as lack of transportation.

Expanding Community Support

We engage communities and local leadership as vital partners in overcoming delays and barriers to MNCHN care for mothers and children. We educate families and households to make healthy behavior changes, recognize health emergencies and know when to seek services to help improve MNCHN outcomes. Our community-based approach strengthens the continuum of care, linking households, and health facilities and providing opportunities to further address gaps in services.
