Under Project SHWAS, the Department of Health and Family Welfare Punjab, People to People Health Foundation (PPHF), and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) are bridging this gap through mobile diagnostics and advanced equipment.
On April 30, 2025, Hon’ble Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh flagged off a mobile diagnostic van, boosting TB screening in underserved areas like Sangrur and Malerkotla. Thanks to IOCL’s support of handheld X-ray machines and fluorescent microscopes at Civil Hospitals of Malerkotla and Sangrur, early detection is now faster. TB screening camps were held on May 14 & 15 at one of Malerkotla’s IOCL petrol pumps and the IOCL Sangrur Depot, where more than 200 truck drivers, helpers, and petrol pump staff were screened. Innovation and action are driving real change in the fight against TB.
