Flood survivors urgently need relief and essential health services.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand’s Devastating Floods in 2025
Heavy rains, cloudbursts, and landslides have devastated Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, wreaking havoc on the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people in different parts.
- Himachal Pradesh: 46 cloudbursts, 98 flash floods and 145 major landslips. 417 lives lost (231 rain-related, 181 road accidents), 477 injured, 45 missing. Over 2,300 villages submerged, 2 million people affected, and 5 lakh acres of crops destroyed.
- Uttarakhand: Flash floods in August–September 2025 killed 25 people (13 in Dehradun, 2 in Chamoli, 6 in Uttarkashi, and 4 in Dehradun). Thousands remain displaced and vulnerable.
Families have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. Survivors are left with nothing but shattered lives, facing a long road to recovery.
PPHF is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local partners to mobilize urgent support for the most affected.
Proposed PPHF’s Response:
- Targeting entire flood-affected districts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, with a focus on hardest-hit areas.
- Coordinating with district administrations, local organizations, and medical professionals to deliver emergency health camps, food and nutrition kits, and hygiene and survival kits, including sanitary supplies and medical consultations and medicines to provide urgent care.
- Supporting government efforts to control post-flood disease outbreaks.
- Providing rehabilitation and livelihood support for displaced families.
- Continuing extended health services through periodic medical camps.
- Setting up platforms for psychosocial counselling and community preparedness for future disasters.
